About Us

Our History

The Project Group has its roots (circa 1992) within statutory Mental Health Day Care Services.  After some years it became obvious that if we were to flourish we needed autonomy with the ability to shape and decide our own future.

By 2002 we had moved out of statutory services and rented our own small studio space and had secured 3 years funding from the mental health charity MIND.  These 3 years gave us the time to develop as an organisation, become a Limited Company and raise the £200,000 to secure our current large town centre, fully equipped studio space.

In March 2006 we moved into our present space, having successfully brokered a service level agreement with Shropshire and South Staffordshire NHS Trust.  In 2009 we became a Community Interest Company (CIC).

Our current service level agreement covers approximately 40% of our annual running costs.  The remainder is raised, mainly project specific, from a range of funders (Europe, Arts Council, National Lottery etc).  Approximately 20% of our income is earned through art commissions and workshop fees.
