Training programme for Shropshire Health and Social Care professionals
Starting in September 2010, the Project Group led a training programme for Shropshire Health and Social Care professionals, from managers to care workers, on the benefits of creative activity to individuals within their services. The participants were encouraged to attend by the Assistant Director of Adult Social Care, Steven Chandler, to promote and share the idea of health and well-being through participatory arts projects, to other staff in their work places.
The series of 6 workshops were linked to the PFI projects commissioned by Shropshire Council. The programme involved practical and theoretical sessions and Project Group members, both as part of the teaching group, and giving evidence of their own personal journeys. These sessions were part of the user involvement aspect of the PFI commissions.
Part of this project included funding to commission a short film about the making of the PFI projects, and the work and ethos of the Project Group. Chris Smart, of Silva Productions, has produced an engaging and telling film, Creating Communities. The film includes interviews with Project Group members, workshop sessions, and images of the final pieces of art work.

Chris Smart made a second film which encapsulates what the Project Group means to members. This film can be viewed on youtube at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrUuX_tfeUg
Sessions for professionals working in the field of mental health
The Project Group was asked to host a series of training sessions for professionals working in the field of mental health. In addition to passing on valuable skills, the Project Group members were able to challenge traditional social dynamics, as they trained the professionals who would traditionally offer a service to them.
